The Minnesota Vikings had left tackle Christian Darrisaw pop up on the injury report on Wednesday afternoon, putting his status is severe doubt for Thursday night’s matchup. After an extensive on-field workout, Darrisaw is officially active against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Khalil Mack on the other side, it will be huge for the Vikings to protect quarterback Carson Wentz.

It’s a huge deal for the Vikings to have Darrisaw playing on Thursday night. Wentz has been hit frequently in the pocket and has been sacked a whopping 14 times in his four starts. Now that Darrisaw is playing, the Vikings likely don’t have to worry about the left side of their offensive line.

The one thing the Vikings need to worry about is if Darrisaw has to come out of the game due to his knee. He played a limited number of snaps against the Cleveland Browns for that reason. NFL Network’s Steve Wyche reported that Darrisaw will be on a pitch count.

The big one for the Vikings is that Brian O’Neill is out with his knee injury. He did play every snap last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, but coming back from an MCL sprain is a tough one for the Vikings. He will likely be replaced by Justin Skule, who has played better at right tackle than left tackle.

The other inactives for the Vikings are as follows:

  • EDGE Chaz Chambliss
  • DT Elijah Williams
  • FB C.J. Ham
  • EDGE Andrew Van Ginkel
  • QB J.J. McCarthy (emergency third QB)
