The Minnesota Vikings have a storied history since their inception in 1961.
The Purple People Eaters defense with Bud Grant at head coach was one of the best units in National Football League history with four representatives, including Grant, enshrined in Canton, Ohio in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Even with their storied history, multiple Vikings who should be enshrined aren't, and one of them is edge rusher Jared Allen, a finalist for the 2025 class.
Jared Allen named finalist for Pro Football Hall of Fame
On Saturday morning, Allen was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the fifth consecutive year. Allen is one of 15 finalists for the award:
- CB Eric Allen
- OT Willie Anderson
- OG Jahri Evans
- TE Antonio Gates
- WR Torry Holt
- LB Luke Keuchly
- QB Eli Mannings
- WR Steve Smith Sr.
- EDGE Terrell Suggs
- RB Fred Taylor
- K Adam Vinatieri
- WR Reggie Wayne
- S Darren Woodson
- OG Marshal Yanda
Needless to say, Allen has the credentials to make the Hall of Fame. He is a four-time All-Pro with the Minnesota Vikings after being a fourth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2004 NFL Draft. In 187 games, Allen registered 136 sacks, 58 passes defended, and six interceptions while tying an NFL record with four safeties forced.
It's time to put Allen where he belongs in Canton, Ohio.
