The Minnesota Vikings followed through on a promise they made to first-round pick Jordan Addison. Although the Vikings walked away with Addison, there were at least a couple of other suitors trying to swoop in on the dynamic wide receiver.

KSTP’s Darren Wolfson reports that the New Orleans Saints (No. 29) and Kansas City Chiefs (No. 31) both had interest in moving up to nab Addison. While there hasn’t been specific trade offers reported, Wolfson does state that the offers that were made to Minnesota weren’t enough for the team to move out of the 23rd overall pick.

The Vikings entered the draft with just five picks in total. So adding more selections is an enticing proposal, but not if it comes at the cost of losing a player they rate highly.

Addison joins a star-studded group of pass catchers in Minnesota highlighted by WR Justin Jefferson and TE T.J. Hockenson. K.J. Osborn is a breakout candidate at receiver as well, but Addison is expected to fill the void Adam Thielen leaves behind after signing with the Carolina Panthers in free agency.

Minnesota has just one pick in Day 2 of the draft which comes in the third round at No. 87 overall. The Vikings will look to find value late in the draft with one pick each in Rounds 3-6.
