Minnesota Vikings superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson had a career year in 2023. Not only did he shatter franchise record after franchise record, but he also walked away with the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year award.
While last season’s triumphs won’t soon be forgotten in Minnesota, there is no doubt that Jefferson wants to become the third player in NFL history to win OPOY in back-to-back seasons.
The only two players to have ever accomplished that feat are Hall of Famers Earl Campbell (1978-1990) and Marshall Faulk (1999-2001) who actually won the award in three straight seasons.
There are plenty of talented players in today’s offensive-driven NFL. Let’s take a look at where Jefferson’s preseason odds currently stand to win the award for the second consecutive year.
Offensive Player of the Year Odds, per DraftKings Sportsbook:
- Justin Jefferson: +1000
- Ja’Marr Chase: +1000
- Christian McCaffrey: +1000
- Austin Ekeler: +1500
- Tyreek Hill: +2000
- Stefon Diggs: +200
- Jonathan Taylor: +2000
- Derrick Henry: +2000
- Davante Adams: +2000
- Deebo Samuel: +2000
- Cooper Kupp: +2000
*All other players listed at +2200 or greater.
A lot of things have to go right in order to bring home this significant piece of hardware in consecutive season. With that being said, Jefferson’s talent can’t be questioned. It’s going to take a special kind of season to trump Jefferson who could have Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving record in his crosshairs.
