Minnesota Vikings superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson has managed to summit the NFL’s mountaintop at his position in just three seasons. Jefferson’s ridiculous 2022 campaign put him in position to shatter the wide receiver market with a record-setting contract extension.

Jefferson has totaled three straight seasons with at least 1,400 receiving yards. At just 23 years old, there isn’t much left to prove for the LSU product. While Jefferson hasn’t yet made it to the team facility for OTAs, there is belief that a massive contract extension could be on the horizon.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Jefferson’s new deal could top the market at wide receiver and potentially rival Aaron Donald’s contract, which is tops amongst non-QBs.

"Because wide receiver—that market has gone up to $30 million with Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, all of those guys," Fowler said on his Sportscenter appearance on Monday. "Jefferson is considered by many around the league as the very best receiver in the NFL. So, are we talking, you know, Aaron Donald money, $31 million per year? We'll see."

Hill currently sits atop the wide receiver market with an average annual value of $30 million. Davante Adams ($28 mil), Cooper Kupp (26 mil), A.J. Brown ($25 mil) and Stefon Diggs ($24 mil) round out the top five, according to Spotrac.

It would be a major surprise if Jefferson and the Vikings are unable to iron out an extension prior to the start of the 2023 regular season.

While Jefferson is currently prepping for the season away from the team, it isn’t problematic as of yet. However if he remains absent when mandatory minicamp kicks off on June 13-14, the pressure intensifies for the Vikings to get a deal done sooner rather than later.
