The Minnesota Vikings had a tough July last year. Right after the Fourth of July, they lost cornerback Khyree Jackson to a tragic car accident. The Vikings had taken him into the fourth round and expected really big things from him in Brian Flores's defense.
That ultimately didn't get a chance to manifest due to the accident. The Vikings spent the entire season honoring him with pins for the coaching staff, a sticker on the back of the helmet, and his number on the side of the practice field.
Lions CB Terrion Arnold to honor Khyree Jackson
It's obvious that Jackson made an impact on many people, including head coach Kevin O'Connell, who spoke at his funeral. The latest to honor him is his former college teammate, Terrion Arnold, who is playing with the Detroit Lions.
Arnold announced that he will be switching his number from zero to six to honor Jackson, as he wore that number while they both played at Alabama.
The number opened up after safety Ifeatu Melifonwu signed with the Miami Dolphins. It's quite a nice gesture, especially with the quote from Arnold.
"Because I wanted my brother to live through me."
