The Minnesota Vikings (10-2) are in the midst of a two-game win streak. Beating a pair of playoff contenders in the New England Patriots and New York Jets in close games, concluding their three-game home stint.
With only five games to go, the Vikings go into Detroit against the Lions (5-7) in a pivotal NFC North rematch. The Vikings come in with a pair of MVP candidates QB Kirk Cousins (+10000) and WR Justin Jefferson (+10000), in part two of the rivalry.
Since the 28-24 Vikings win earlier this season, these teams have gone in different, ye similar directions.
Detroit is 2.5 games behind the Washington Commanders for the seventh seed in the NFC playoffs picture. Winning four of their last five games.
Meanwhile, the Vikings are only a game behind the Philadelphia Eagles for the top seed. With an easier avenue to secure the top seed in the conference, starting with the Lions.
So why then are the Lions early favorites to win?
The over/under for the game is even (-110 over/-110 under) at 53.5 points, with Detroit favored by (-3). Despite the Vikings having won the earlier matchup back in week three.
Detroit is 3-4 at home, going 2-2 in their last four home games. Minnesota is 3-1 on the road this season, outscoring opponents 94 to 87. Undefeated in the division.
Whether this line is a result of the Lions latest surge, or sports betters not giving the Minnesota Vikings any leeway following their loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the line can be seen as disrespectful.
With Minnesota in the middle of a tight NFC race, they can win the North and secure a home playoff game with a victory on Sunday.
