The 2024 NFL Draft is just weeks away and teams are entering the final phase of the evaluation process, which means draft visits galore.
The Minnesota Vikings are planning a visit with one of the more interesting cornerbac prospects in former Canadian Football League star, Qwan'tez Stiggers. In fact, Stiggers didn't even play college football. He was initially enrolled at Lane College in Tennessee, but he dropped out after his father died and never went back to school.
He eventually tried out for the arena league and made it. He then caught the attention of the CFL's Toronto Argonauts and was named the league's 2023 Rookie of the Year after recording five interceptions, 53 defensive tackles and three special teams tackles. The lone year in the CFL gives Stiggers the eligibility he needs in order to enter the NFL Draft.
Per KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, the Vikings aren't the only team interested in Stiggers, as the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Houston Lions, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets have all shown interest in him.
The Vikings desperately need a starting perimeter corner opposite Byron Murphy Jr., so it makes since they're interested in Stiggers. Brian Flores' defense could certainly use someone with his ball skills, as just two Vikings defenders recorded multiple interceptions in 2023 and the defense's 11 total INTs tied for 19th out of the 32 NFL teams.
Right now, the cornerback room consists of Murphy, Akayleb Evans, Josh Metellus, Najee Thompson, Jaylin Williams, Mekhi Blackmon, Shaq Griffin, Andrew Booth Jr., Joejuan Williams, and A.J. Green III.
Stiggers will likely be a Day 3 pick, but the kid has already shown he has the skills and football intelligence to catch on quickly. What he's done the last couple of years is awfully impressive and now, he's likely going to get a chance to show that he's capable of doing it at the highest level.
