NFL mock drafts are quite interesting this time of year.

They aren't meant to be predictive in December. What they are meant to do is provide different options and potential fits as we enter the predraft process.

The Minnesota Vikings are in an interesting spot when it comes to the NFL Draft. How are they going to handle their needs? Right now, they desperately need a pass rushing defensive tackle, youth at cornerback and a running back of the future. They could get multiple pieces this offseason in free agency with more coming in the NFL Draft, a place where general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has shown his biggest struggles.

Vikings get star pass rusher in NFL mock draft

The latest mock draft from our own AJ Schulte here at A to Z Sports has a fantastic option for the Vikings in round one in Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen.

The Vikings' defensive line has the worst sack rate in the NFL, which feels remarkable for a team as adept as getting after the passer as they are. Imagine how much more of a headache they would be with a capable pass rusher in the middle of their defense. Walter Nolen is streaky, but he's a marvelous athlete with plenty of upside to develop.

Nolen was the number one recruit in the 2022 recruiting class and spent his first two years at Texas A&M. After Jimbo Fisher got fired, Nolen took his talents to Oxford and played last season at Ole Miss.

Nolen was an All-American this past season at Ole Miss, compiling 6.5 sacks, 14.0 tackles for loss and 48 tackles. While Nolen did benefit from having great players around him, he's an incredible player himself and will likely test off the charts come the NFL Scouting Combine.

Would this be the best pick for the Vikings come April? Only time will tell, but it's a great fit for what Brian Flores likes to do.
