Like most teams in the National Football League, there is a lot of shuffling on the back end of the roster. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has manipulated the roster to maximize practice squad elevations.
Not only has he done that with the practice squad, but his maneuvering with those players and those returning from injury have been a challenge to do so. On Monday afternoon, it happened again in a somewhat unfortunate way.
Minnesota Vikings waive TE Nick Muse
On Monday, the Vikings waived tight end Nick Muse. He was activated from injured reserve due to tight end Josh Oliver missing the game due to an ankle injury he suffered against the Tennessee Titans.
It's not an unexpected move to slide Muse back to the practice squad. It's unfortunate to do so on Monday afternoon, as it's his birthday.
Yes, it's Muse's birthday.
The move in a whole honestly isn't a big deal. Muse is going to go back to the practice squad and it's just a procedural move. Not a big deal in theory, but the optics of doing it on his birthday aren't great!
Not only did Muse get cut on his birthday, his brother Tanner was also cut in the same way.
A really odd piece of NFL history right here with a simple procedural move.
