The moves to sign both Jones and Murphy to the practice squad were expected by the Vikings and Jones' signing needed to have the precursor of a physical, which was likely completed early on Friday.

Murphy was activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals but was moved to the practice squad. You can't activate a player and move him right to the practice squad so this was a necessary move.

Pearl had been on the practice squad for a few weeks and never saw an elevation to the active roster. The surprise here was Tonyan being released, as Josh Oliver is still injured and could be a valuable asset while he heals up.

The practice squad for the Vikings is currently full, but we will be looking to see if Jones gets elevated to the active roster in time.
