During his weekly press conference on Monday, head coach Kevin O'Connell spoke to the media and informed them the Minnesota Vikings will be opening up the practice window for both kicker Will Reichard and long snapper Andrew DePaola.
This is huge for the Vikings' special teams, especially when you talk about the quality of player that DePaola is. He was a first-team All Pro in 2022 and a second team member in 2023. DePaola has been one of the more consistent long snappers in the National Football League and having that kind of continuity is huge.
Reichard has been excellent this season for the Vikings. He is 14-16 on field goals and a perfect 23-23 on extra points across his first eight games in the NFL. In his place, Parker Romo has been more than solid, making 11-12 field goals and 7-8 extra points, including a 55 yard field goal against the Cardinals on Sunday.
O'Connell didn't say when they would be activated but getting practice reps is a good sign.
