The Minnesota Vikings haven’t been able to go on a spending spree this offseason, but one national media outlet really likes what the team has done in free agency.
The Vikings’ moves haven’t been as flash as teams around the league, and even in the NFC North. But Pro Football Focus handed Minnesota an A- for their free agency grade.
The Vikes are tied atop the NFC North with the Detroit Lions at an A- according to PFF.
General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made a few difficult decisions on aging veterans such as Adam Thielen and Patrick Peterson.
Vikings fans were also frustrated with the team’s decision to let Dalvin Tomlinson and Duke Shelley sign elsewhere. However Minnesota did find a way to re-sign Garrett Bradbury, Alexander Mattison and Greg Joseph.
While the Vikings lost a few key contributors from last season, the team was able to land rising star Byron Murphy at cornerback, along with TE Josh Oliver, DE Marcus Davenport, DL Dean Lowry.
Spotrac currently has Minnesota with just over $1 million in salary cap space remaining. That number ranks last in the NFL.
It is possible the team still has a couple moves in them, but any player the Vikings add in free agency will have to come cheap. Minnesota’s next chance to upgrade its roster will come in a month at the 2023 NFL Draft.
