The first puzzle piece of the Minnesota Vikings’ 2023 schedule has been placed.
The NFL officially released the regular season schedules for all 32 teams on Thursday night. To kick off Minnesota's season is a home date with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1pm ET.
With the 17-game schedule, each NFC team will play nine games away from home this season, as it alternates between conferences each year. That being said, it's nice to open the season at home against a beatable opponent in the Bucs.
Tampa Bay signed QB Baker Mayfield in the offseason to lead a team which most NFL analysts expect to be picking near the top of the draft in 2024. However, Minnesota's new-look secondary will be tested early against wide receivers such as Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
The good news is that Tampa Bay's offense finished the 2022 season as the second-lowest scoring unit in the NFL. This provides an early opportunity for defensive coordinator Brian Flores to establish and identity and build confidence with a strong performance in Week 1.
