Vikings sign 13 players to reserve/futures contracts
A reserve/futures contract is given to a player on waivers or the practice squad. They keep those players with the franchise during the offseason. This is a very common practice with teams often keeping around 10-15 players each year to help build out their 90-man offseason roster.
There are some big names on the list for the Vikings with the biggest being Murphy. He was the big UDFA signing for the Vikings this offseason but missed most of the offseason and regular season with a hamstring injury. Murphy did play against the Atlanta Falcons and he could take over for Pat Jones II in his role as a reserve edge rusher.
The Vikings will make more moves this offseason and this is the start.
Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner had an underwhelming season, but there shouldn’t be cause for concern
Turner’s rookie season needs context and it’s not as bad as you think
