Earlier in the day on Sunday, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported that teams would inquire about trading for Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell.

Of course, teams would call about the soon-to-be coach of the year, but that's not going to happen.

On the pregame show for Sunday night football Football Night in America, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported that it won't happen. He spoke to a Vikings source who told him as such.

"We love Kevin (O'Connell) and there will be no trade."

There will be no Kevin O'Connell trade

A trade for O'Connell never made much sense. He is 34-16 with the Vikings and, by all accounts, very happy with the Vikings organization. They will talk to him about a contract extension in the coming weeks, something that is normal for Vikings ownership.

In their near 20-year history owning the Vikings, the Wilfs have a history of talking about contract extensions when the final year comes around. They did so with former head coach Mike Zimmer and former general manager Rick Spielman and that's the path they are taking with the current regime.

Teams may want O'Connell, and it's easy to see why, but he's not going anywhere.
