The Minnesota Vikings found themselves at the center of the discussion after a curious decision from one of their social media accounts.

The offseason is a time when NFL teams use unique strategies on social media to stay relevant while also gaining traction. Another key element to this is finding which players to market as the cornerstones of the franchise.

The most marketable players in Minnesota are fairly obvious. On offense there is Justin Jefferson, Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook and T.J. Hockenson if you’re feeling frisky.

Well, not so fast. The Vikings, who previously included Cook as one of the featured players in their Twitter header, have had a recent change in heart.

Cook has been at the center of trade discussions throughout the offseason. The three-time Pro Bowler’s stock has begun to trend in a downward direction.

With a trade seeming to be inevitable, the Vikings replaced Cook on their Twitter banner with Alexander Mattison. Many within the fanbase believe it could be a sign of things to come.

Cook has been the bell cow over his last four seasons in Minnesota. He’s been named to the Pro Bowl in each of the last three years. But this move, albeit trivial, indicated that the team’s second-round pick in the 2017 draft could be in for a change of scenery sooner rather than later.
