The Minnesota Vikings are set to face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night in their week 2 matchup, but it’s never too early to look ahead at their week 3 opponent in the Cincinnati Bengals.
Going into halftime, the Bengals were down 17-10 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but they were also without star quarterback Joe Burrow. He left the game in the second quarter with a toe injury and has been labeled questionable to return.
Joe Burrow suffers toe injury vs. Jaguars
Having an injury in his lower half is nothing new for Burrow. He’s suffered a multitude of injuries, including a torn ACL in his rookie season. However, it’s not good for a player who isn’t the most agile at the position.
He didn’t return to the game coming out of halftime, with backup quarterback Jake Browning getting in the game. Vikings fans know Browning all too well, as he beat the Vikings 27-24 in overtime during their failed playoff chase. The Bengals were down 17-3 going into the fourth quarter, and Browning led the comeback.
Browning even yelled at the Vikings that they never should have cut him.
Despite the success of Brownling last year, anytime that you don’t have Burrow in the game, it’s a downgrade. It’s worth noting that Burrow not returning to the game doesn’t mean he won’t play on Sunday against the Vikings, but it’s definitely a story to monitor.
