The Minnesota Vikings have their first short week of the season when they face the Los Angeles Chargers this Thursday night.

It was a tough loss against the Philadelphia Eagles this past Sunday, with multiple different elements at play, including the referees having a tough time making consistent calls. The biggest issue was at quarterback, with Carson Wentz making multiple mistakes. Will this finally be the game where we see J.J. McCarthy return as the starter?

Monday’s injury report didn’t give us much of an answer, but it raised another question.

Observations

  • It’s important to note that this is an estimated practice report. The Vikings didn’t have a full practice on Monday.
  • Both McCarthy and Wentz being limited isn’t much of a surprise, especially after the beating Wentz took on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
  • O’Neill being listed as a did not practice is likely due to him still recovering from a sprained MCL. There is a chance he misses Thursday’s game because it’s a short week.

Observations

  • The Chargers are very beat up on the offensive line, and it’s no surprise to see multiple players on the list. The OL struggled massively against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.
  • Of the Chargers’ offensive linemen on the report, the biggest one is Alt. The fifth-overall pick in 2024 has been a stud at both left tackle and right tackle.
