The Minnesota Vikings are set to have their second NFC North game of the season on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Detroit Lions.

It’s going to be a difficult challenge for the Vikings, as the Lions sit at 5-2, while the purple and gold are at 3-4 and in danger of missing the playoffs. The Vikings haven’t made the playoffs in consecutive seasons since 2008 and 2009, and getting a win on Sunday will go a long way to making that happen.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell and defensive coordinator Brian Flores will have their hands full on Sunday, and here’s how you can watch the game.

Vikings vs. Lions history

These two teams have played 127 times since the Vikings entered the league in 1961, and the Vikings lead that series 80-45-2. However, the last five games have all been won by the Lions in a major shift of power between the two franchises.

The biggest reason why has been due to the job that general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell have done in reshaping both the culture and the roster. They have been a dominant team over the past two seasons and have turned themselves into a powerhouse.

On the other hand, this is the longest losing streak the Vikings have had against the Lions since they lost the first five of the series from 1961-1963 with their first win coming on November 24, 1963.
