Before Tom Brady became the best quarterback to ever play in the National Football League, he was simply a football player at Michigan. And there, he had to fight for every bit of playing time.

However, in the two seasons he started, Brady's record was strong and he had some wins that he will never forget.

And similar to how Michigan brought down Alabama on Monday night in the Rose Bowl, Brady did that 24 years prior.

During one of Brady's historic game at Michigan, he led the team to an overtime victory, finishing by throwing for 369 yards and four touchdowns. And part of that included a game-winning touchdown that provided the team with a big enough lead, especially after Alabama missed its extra point soon after.

And now Michigan has defeated Alabama once again, earning a spot in the National Championship this season. That's the best possible way they could honor Brady.

However, instead of Brady this time, it was J.J. McCarthy in the pocket for Michigan, finishing by throwing for 221 yards and three touchdowns in the win. He was helped by running back Blake Corum who finished with 19 carries for 83 yards and one touchdown.

Brady even expressed his support for his alma mater earlier in the day.

However, where they might differ is McCarthy is expected to go higher in the NFL Draft this coming year, while Brady was selected in the sixth round with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.

But he proved that it doesn't matter what round you were drafted in. All that matters is how you perform on the field.

Regardless, It's got to be a good feeling for McCarthy and the rest of the team knowing Tom Brady is watching along and rooting for them.
