Considering where the roster was when Vrabel first took over to where it is now, the Patriots are primed for a much better season.
With that being said, it's time to take a look at the winners and losers after the draft.
Winners

QB Drake Maye: This was a draft where the organization clearly had Drake Maye in mind. They brought in Will Campbell, finally adding a true starting caliber left tackle. Then they adding Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson followed by Washington State wide receiver Kyle Williams. And then, to round out their picks on the second day, they drafted Georgia center Jared Wilson, who might not be ready to start immediately, but will have time to develop and connect with the quarterback. With these decisions along with the offseason acquisitions, Maye should be very, very happy right now.
Eliot Wolf: While it's still early, it certainly seems like this draft was a much bigger success than 2024 where, outside of Drake Maye, the Patriots didn't bring in any huge difference makers. And the biggest disappointment last year was with rookie receivers Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker. Now, Wolf and his team were able to address numerous needs on the roster, while also being able to take the best players available because of their decisions in the free agency. As of now, it seems he has redeemed himself.
DC Terrell Williams: During the first two days of the draft, the Patriots focused on the offensive side of the ball, but on Day 3, they got two players who could be considered steals if they perform the way they are expected to. The Patriots traded up to take Joshua Farmer in the fourth round, and he went on to tell reporters he has a chip on his shoulder after watching so many defensive tackles go before him. Afterwards, they selected LSU EDGE Bradyn Swinson, who was projected to go higher in the draft. If that's the case, Williams just got two very talented players in the later rounds.
Losers

LS Joe Cardona: In the seventh round, the Patriots made a surprising decision, selecting Vanderbilt long snapper Julian Ashby. This was potentially a player they could have got as an undrafted free agent, but they didn't want to take a chance. And with that, it also brings in question Joe Cardona's status for the season.
K John Parker Romo: The Patriots used their sixth round pick on a kicker, selecting Miami's Andres Borregales who is viewed as the favorite to win the job. Special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer did tell reporters that it was always the plan to bring in an additional kicker this offseason for competition, but using a draft pick on one makes it seem that they view Borregales as the future.
Safeties: The Patriots already had enough safeties on the roster, but then they brought in another, selecting Craig Woodson in the fourth round. With so many, it means that when the time comes for New England to have to cut the roster to 53, they will have to say goodbye to some very talented players.
