Sep 29, 2024; Santa Clara, California, USA; New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett (7) is sacked in the backfield by San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa (97) during the fourth quarter at Levi's Stadium.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 235-pounds Brissett is known for being a tough guy to take down.

Even though the New England Patriots quarterback was hit 10 times and sacked six times in Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers, it could have been a lot more. So despite his struggles, Brissett still has the respect of 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

“Jacoby, he’s a big man. We compare him to Ben Roethlisberger. If you don’t get your body on him, he doesn’t go down,” Shanahan said. “You can’t just grab that guy and pull him down. You’ve got to hit him dead square.”

"I haven't seen really anyone just pull him down with one arm," he added. "You have to hit him square and that's why he's one of the more competitive guys I've seen play that position. It usually takes two to take him down."

Considering the offensive struggles the Patriots have had this year along with the criticism that Brissett has received, being called one of the most competitive quarterbacks by an offensive-minded coach like Shanahan has to feel nice

And if there is one thing that everyone should applaud the veteran quarterback for, it's his toughness.

Brissett has been knocked to the ground numerous times this season, but still manages to guy up every time. Most of the times he has a grimace on his face and is in clear discomfort, but he still goes back out there regardless.

Even head coach Jerod Mayo mentioned it after the loss.

“What I will say about Jacoby is that he’s tough, both mentally and physically. This guy’s going out there, he is taking some huge shots and continues to get back up. Sometimes you’re like, ‘Man, is he okay?’ You're watching him for a while. But he is a tough guy and I would never use the word ‘skittish’ with a guy like that.”
