The first wave of NFL free agency is over, and the New England Patriots were all over the place, making crucial signings to improve the roster. However, there are still some big needs on all sides of the ball.
So with that, here's A to Z Sports first post-first wave of free agency mock draft for the Patriots:
4th Pick: Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter
Due to the landing sports for the free agent quarterbacks, the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants could look to draft one with the first and third overall picks respectively. And if that happens, either Penn State edge Abdul Carter or Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter would be available when New England is on the clock.
Hunter would address a big need at receiver for the Patriots, plus he would be a huge asset on defense. It's a no brainer here if Hunter is available.
38th Pick: Minnesota T Aireontae Ersery
The Patriots need a left tackle and they land one with the 38th pick if they draft Minnesota tackle Aireontae Ersery. He was named Big Ten offensive Lineman of the Year in 2024 along with earned First-team All-Big Ten honors.
69th Pick: Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson
The Patriots would be able to get a talented offensive weapon if Henderson is available. His injury history could allow him to drop down and be available when New England is up again. He has the explosiveness to take advantage of openings and get into space.
77th Pick (via ATL): UCLA EDGE Oluwafemi Oladejo
If Abdul Carter dropped to the fourth overall pick, the Patriots would have no choice but to take him. However, he's considered the most talented prospect in the draft, so he will most likely be gone before that. The Patriots could then turn to UCLA Edge Oluwafemi Oladejo to help improve the team's pass rush.
106th Pick: Texas TE Gunnar Helm
While the Patriots have Austin Hooper and Hunter Henry on the roster, along with 2024 seventh round draft pick Jaheim Bell, this tight end draft class is very talented and New England could look to bring in someone that they can develop.
144th Pick: Boston College C Drew Kendall
The Patriots released long-time captain and starting center David Andrews. The Patriots signed veteran offensive lineman (center/guard) Wes Schweitzer on Friday, but they need to prepare for the future. Many believe Cole Strange could be that option, but New England could look towards the draft as well.
217th Pick (via TEN): Alabama DL Tim Smith
Tim Smith didn't reach his full potential at Alabama, but his ability to be physical up front is someone that it perfect for Mike Vrabel's scheme.
220th Pick: Alabama EDGE Que Robinson
Que Robinson should have gone back to school for one more year, but he flashed the raw instincts to win off the edge and potentially work out in space with intelligence to make plays swatting the ball and even hitting folks in the flat.
238th Pick (via LAC): IOL LSU Garrett Dellinger
When it comes to the later rounds, it's best to look for a solid developmental player and LSU's Garrett Dellinger is a good option.
