FOXBOROUGH, MASS – As expected, Bill Belichick didn't give much away when speaking with reporters on Tuesday morning ahead of the New England Patriots Week 12 matchup against the New York Giants.
And with that, he declined to answer any questions surrounding the Patriots current quarterback situation. Most importantly, he was asked who will be the starter.
“I’ve told all the players the same thing: be ready to go,” Belichick said. "I'll let you know on Sunday."
In the Patriots loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany, Mac Jones was benched once again and it was Bailey Zappe who took over for him.
In previous games when Zappe replaced Jones this season, Belichick made it seem that it was due to the large score deficit. However, this time was clearly different.
And while the coaching staff has been quick to reaffirm that Jones will remain the starter earlier this season, they didn't comment after the game in Germany.
On Monday, Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien declined to answer as well, explaining that it is up to Belichick to make the final decision.
“I think assistant coaches make recommendations, head coaches make decisions," O'Brien said. "At the end of the day, Bill (Belichick) will make that decision at some point and we’ll go from there.”
However, it appears Belichick's decision has not been made yet.
"I think whoever we put in there will be able to do what we want him to do," Belichick said. "It will be based on who is ready to go."
Patriots OC Bill O’Brien still unsure of starting quarterback after bye week
Still no answer in New England.
