FRANKFURT, Germany — After getting benched before the New England Patriots' final drive in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Mac Jones walked over to the bench with a defeated look on his face.

While he had been benched during two other games this season, this one felt different. And with that, everyone had the same question: will he remain the starter.

As usual, Belichick didn't give much away when asked the question following the game, but it's clear that Jones benching was due to performance this time rather than the deficit.

"Yeah, we're worry about next week next week. The game just finished a half hour ago," Belichick said about who the starter will be after the bye week. "Yeah, look, I made the decision. That's what it was. We'll deal with next week next week.

He was then asked why he decided to make that choice and his answer was simple: "I just thought it was time for a change."

However, he did reaffirm his faith in Mac Jones, stating that he "has faith in all our players."

Jones was ultimately benched after a poor throw that resulted in an interception. And Zappe didn't do much better, also throwing a pick to end the game.

Following the game, Jones was spotted heading into the X-ray room, which brought up questions about whether the benching had to do with injury. Yet, the quarterback shut down those rumors, saying that it was just a bruise.

With this loss, the Patriots fall to 2-8 on the season.

And with Zappe also not performing well in his quick stint on the field, it might be time to give Will Grier a try.
