Bill Belichick's job might be in jeopardy

It's official.

Bill Belichick will not be leading a team during the 2024 NFL Season.

Can't say anyone saw this coming, but it's now a harsh reality.

On Thursday, the Washington Commanders announced that they havehired Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. And with that, it marks the final head coaching hire for next season.

So that means Belichick was left out, alongside former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel in a surprising twist of fate.

Belichick drew the most interest from the Atlanta Falcons, but ultimately the team decided to go with a younger coach, hiring Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. And with that, the Falcons were the only team to interview the 71-year-old coach.

After Six Super Bowl championships across 24 seasons, Belichick and owner Robert Kraft mutually parted ways following the Patriots struggling 2023 season. But it seems he will not be able to break Don Shula's record in Atlanta.

However, don't count him out of coaching just yet. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones decided to stick with head coach Mike McCarthy for one more year, but with his contract expiring next season, there could be an opening.

And based on what Jones said recently, Belichick heading to Dallas seems very likely.

“I know him personally and I like him,” Jones told Yahoo Sports. “There’s no doubt in my mind we could work together. None. None.”

So Belichick is now focused on 2025.
