Former longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick could remain sidelined in 2024.
After interviewing twice with the Atlanta Falcons for their vacant head coach position, 71-year-old Belichick did not get the job.
Instead, the Falcons are expected to hire Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their next head coach, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday evening.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Atlanta was the only team that interviewed Belichick.
Additionally, Rapoport adds that teams were rumored to have interest in Belichick, though no "known" interviews were scheduled which means the Patriots' legend could sit out next season and wait for an opportunity in 2025.
The Patriots and Belichick mutually agreed to part ways earlier this month after he led them to an overall 4-13 record.
Despite missing the playoffs the last two years, Belichick is a notorious winner and needs only 26 more wins to match Don Shula’s all-time victory record of 328.
However, it seems he may never reach that number as teams continue to look at hiring younger head coaches.
