This isn't the first time Gonzalez has been snubbed from receiving recognition, having not earned a Pro Bowl bid last season.
How does that make sense?
He finished the season with 29 total tackles, two interceptions, and 11 passes defended across 16 games. Oh, and not to mention, he also was the only defender with more than 10 deep targets, with 1 or fewer deep receptions allowed, and no deep touchdowns allowed (he had 15 targets).
Gonzalez's rookie season was cut short after he suffered a torn labrum that required season-ending surgery. But he came into the 2024 season ready to show everyone what he is capable of, and he did just that.
He was tasked with covering some of the top receivers in the NFL this season, and locked them down during each and every game. The issue became that the Patriots only had one Gonzalez and he couldn't be covering all the receivers at once.
In the end, he did earn Second-Team All-Pro honors along with making it on his former head coach Bill Belichicks' All-Belichick Team for the 2024 season.
However, for what he has shown on the field, he deserves a lot more respect. But, keep underestimating him… that just provides some extra motivation.
Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez has simple but perfect reaction to being snubbed from Pro Bowl
He kept it short and sweet.
