FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The New England Patriots are 1-4 through the first five weeks of the season.

The mistakes being made that are costing the team the wins are things that should have been corrected during the summer. But instead, they are still trying to find their identity while sorting through numerous injuries.

And on Sunday, it truly showed how much there are struggling in every facet.

So following the loss to the Miami Dolphins, star cornerback Christian Gonzalez was the first to speak with reporters. And his answer regarding where the team stands after the loss was very telling.

“It’s always hard, it’s hard to lose. We are professionals," he explained. "We want to go out there and win games. It hurts but I don’t question anybody in that locker room.

"We all stick together. We all come in and go to work every day. You learn from wins, and you learn from losses, it’s a part of the game. So, we are sticking together and nothing will make us not stick together.”

This exact quote relates to one of the biggest stories surrounding the team this past week.

A team reporter spoke about the locker room on a podcast earlier this week that the team has now edited.

“Right now, they’re teetering on a mutiny in that locker room. I was in that locker room on Sunday, the defense is mad at the defense, the offense is mad at the offense,” Lazar said. “You have young receivers who are throwing tantrums … at what point in time do some of these guys say to themselves ‘why am I out there getting my butt kicked and Drake (Maye) can’t? Why am I going out there with a quarterback that can’t get me the football when we have a Ferrari back in the garage?”

Jerod Mayo first addressed everything on Friday. Here's everything he was asked and how he responded:

A team employee on a team produced show yesterday said he felt the team was “teetering on a mutiny.” That’s a quote. Understanding what that means, have players demonstrated to you that they want a change in leadership and/or openly defied your orders or those of the coaches?

Mayo: “My focus is definitely on the Dolphins, 100%, and the guys in the locker room. So I haven’t heard that. I mean, that’s journalism for you. I’m not sure.”

But it’s from the team, so I wanted to check with another team employee here.

Mayo: “Like I said, I haven’t heard that and try not to pay attention to that stuff. You’ve gotta ask him.”

Does it feel like there’s frustration in the locker room?

“I mean, it’s always frustrating when you’re not winning. The guys put a lot of work in and everyone wants to try to find a solution right now while we’re going through this transition. So people are definitely frustrated and that’s a normal human response. I feel pretty good about the way that we’re going. I used the analogy the morning: It’s almost like flying through the clouds but you have to use the instruments until you get to clear skies. When I took this job, I knew the lumps would come. It’s part of the transition.”

A to Z Sports also spoke exclusively with captain Jabrill Peppers about these rumors, and he wasn't afraid to address them

"That’s absolute bullshit," he said. "You can quote me on that.

"It's just when you lose, people can paint any narrative that they want to paint. But him losing the locker room? No, that's not a thing."

Right now, the team is sticking together. But if they continue losing, things could quickly change.
