Deebo Samuel may not be very happy with the San Francisco 49ers.
And that could be really good news for the New England Patriots, who are in need of a superstar caliber receiver next season.
On Monday, the receiver voiced his frustration on social media regarding his performance this season.
"Not struggling at all just not getting the ball!!!!!!!," Samuel wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Outside of the 2020 season, this year is on track to be one of his worst since joining the league in 2019. He currently has 40 receptions on 64 targets for 553 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown, along with 32 carries for 92 yards and one rushing touchdown.
And it's well known that the Patriots have showed interest in Samuel before.
NFL Insider Josina Anderson reported back in April that the Patriots had preliminary talks with the 49ers about trading for the receiver
Samuel is under contract through 2025 for $17.55 million, but he will likely demand a new extension. Since the Patriots lead the NFL in projected cap space for next season, they could trade for him and easily give him the extension.
Plus, the 49ers could be motivated to move him since they have extended Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings, along with drafting Ricky Pearsall with their 2024 first round pick.
New England has their quarterback, but they don't have the talent around him to be successful. Drake Maye has proved himself, but imagine if he had a receiver like Samuel to throw to.
Plus, Samuel would be the Patriots No. 1 receiver, so he would be getting tons of targets.
He is certainly one possibility for New England to pursue. Let's just see if they follow through.
