The Las Vegas Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels midseason, so now people are left wondering what's next for the former New England Patriots coach.

And there is some talk that he could even end up back in Foxborough. Especially from former Patriots captain Devin McCourty.

"I would not be surprised if Josh was back on staff," McCourty said on The Greg Hill Show on WEEI. "But I also, you know, if I'm Josh like, hey man, we've still got four and a half years fully guaranteed. For this year, let's take a little mental break for the rest of this season."

"I think for New England, Josh has had so much success over there," McCourty added. "I would be shocked if they don't at least call him and say 'Hey, do you want to come back and lend a helping hand, of some sort.'"

During his two stints with the Patriots, McDaniels went on to win six Super Bowls, and his success in New England led to the Raiders giving him a chance despite his first failed attempt as a head coach with the Denver Broncos.

But with all he did for the Patriots organization, they could look to bring him back.

And looking at the struggles Mac Jones has had this season, it is certainly possibility given that the third-year quarterback had his best year during his rookie season under the direction of McDaniels as the offensive coordinator.

Yet, Bill Belichick wouldn't comment on this possibility when speaking with the media on Wednesday morning.

“Heard about it this morning,"he said. "Just trying to get ready for Washington.”

So, I guess we'll see what happens.
