Dolphins have the opportunity to do the funniest things ever ahead of Week 5 matchup against Patriots

The Miami Dolphins just can't catch a break.
The team lost Tua Tagovailoa in Week 2 after the quarterback suffered another scary concussion against the Buffalo Bills. The team placed him on injured reserve, and backup Skylar Thompson became the starter indefinitely.
However, in Week 3, Thompson went down and was ruled out with a chest injury. The team promoted Tim Boyle from the practice squad on Saturdat, and he was sent in to take over.
But if Thompson's issue proves to be long-term, the Dolphins will be in desperate need of a quarterback.
And they could look to trade for one. With that, two former Patriots players come to mind.
Let's start with Mac Jones.
The quarterback was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars this past offseason after a rough time in New England. He was fighting to be the backup for Trevor Lawrence and had an impressive preseason.
The league is full of quarterbacks who are showing promise with different teams.
… Just look at Sam Darnold.
Jones has starting experience, is familiar with the AFC East, and despite his struggles, he's proven that he's coachable.
And plus, Jones and Tagovailoa were teammates at Alabama, so they clearly know how to work together.
You can't deny that it just makes sense.
And if they can make the trade happen prior to Week 5, it could be Mac Jones vs. the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
Just imagine that.
The other possibility is signing Bailey Zappe off the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.
Once again, it's a quarterback with starting experience and he's won games in the league. And with that one, the Dolphins wouldn't need to trade for him and could instead just sign him.
Patriots fans aren't prepared for Week 5 if this were to happen. But it would make for arguably their most interesting game of the entire season.
We'll see!
