The New England Patriots are feeling great. They’re hovering around the top seed in the AFC, and quarterback Drake Maye is one of the top players at his position in football, even at just 23 years old.

Drake Maye leads Pro Bowl voting ahead of Monday Night Football

Via Pro Bowl voting results, Maye leads all vote getters as of now with 31,452 votes from fans. That is over a 4,000 vote lead on the next-closest star player, Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

One Pro Bowl selection in the first three seasons of a player’s career can increase their fifth-year salary to the value of the transition tag for their particular position. Two or more Pro Bowl selections in the first three years of their career can increase it to the value of the franchise tag. This revelation for Maye affects both he and the Patriots outlook when it comes to his pay in coming years.

The Patriots starter has thrown for 3,130 yards, 21 passing touchdowns, and just six interceptions so far this season. He has also ran for 307 yards and two TDs through twelve games. New England sits at 10-2 so far this campaign.

Maye is also currently second in odds to win MVP, according to DraftKings Sportsbooks. The Patriots QB holds +120 odds to win the award, just behind Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford. Keep in mind that these odds are before the Pats’ MNF matchup in Week 13 against the New York Giants.

Those two are the heavy favorites, as the next closest options in odds are Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (+1100) and Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love (+1500).

The Pro Bowl can be a great opportunity for young players to help out their wallets before they get a massive extension, as well as shine light on some of the league’s top talent in every age group.
