That's been the message after each and every New England Patriots loss this season. But after Sunday's tough defeat to the Arizona Cardinals, Jerod Mayo didn't hold back.
He admitted the harsh truth about the 2024 Patriots season.
“I kind of sound like a broken record standing up here being disappointed after a performance like that. We have to do better," Mayo said in his opening statement. "What I told the guys in there is kind of the same thing I'm telling you, we all have to take accountability and what does that look like? Accountability is not really the ‘my bads.’ The accountability isn't coming in saying things like ‘oh, if we would've just done X, Y, and Z.’ We've been talking about that all year, accountability is going out and correcting it.
"It's about action. It's not about just sitting here saying that’s my fault. You have enough of those and that's what you had out there on the field today”
Outside of quarterback Drake Maye and cornerback Christian Gonzalez, ever single area of the team needs to be better.
That's not saying that they need to replace everyone. New England has some very talented players on the roster that they need more from. But right now, many players aren't living up to expectations.
“At the end of the day, we are what we put on film,” Mayo stated. “We are what our record is."
The Patriots are 3-11 with only three games remaining. Enough said.
