Player Scouting Report from A to Z Sports Film Room's James Foster

Strengths: (Copied from James Foster's Big Board

  • Built-in-a-lab frame, with a broad chest & long arms
  • Alert collecting & passing off stunts
  • Flashes of dominance as a run blocker
  • Eliot drive block potential. Can uproot defenders & displace them 5+ yards of the LOS
  • Gallops into combo blocks & tips the scale to open rushing lanes
  • Glides into pulls & strikes violently at the point of contact
  • Looks for work in pass protection
  • Eliminates pass rushers' leverage with jarring upward strikes
  • Stout anchor when he's centered to the block

Weaknesses: (Copied from James Foster's Big Board)

  • Feet consistently lag behind his hands in pass protection
  • Struggles to slide & mirror cross-face moves
  • Sets his anchor at crooked angles & allows entry points off the edge
  • Erratic hand usage & strike timing
  • Doesn't consistently run his feet through contact to secure play side leverage on reach blocks
  • Overshoots angles & struggles to adjust to moving targets at the 2nd level

Analysis and Opinion

The offensive line was an area that Eliot Wolf and Jerod Mayo emphasized needed improvement and they have wasted no time. Right after selecting OT Caedan Wallace, the Patriots took Robinson with their early pick in the fourth round.

Robinson was a three-year starter at right guard at Texas A&M, and showed up at the combine with a 5.09-second 40-yard dash.

The 6-foot-3, 302-pound interior offensive lineman allowed only one sack in 11 games last season.

He joins Cole Strange, Sidy Sow, Atonio Mafi, Nick Leverett and Michael Jordan on the roster. And with Strange having dealt with an injury for much of last season, Robinson could find himself in a position to compete for the starting job.

Eliot Wolf making an emphasis of protecting Drake Maye and that's a very good thing.
