For J.C. Jackson, there is nothing like being on the New England Patriots.

And after some time away, he was able to return to Gillette Stadium, being traded to the Patriots this past week from the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for a late round pick.

And despite only having a little bit of time to get back into the swing of things, he was back out on the field on Sunday in a Patriots jersey.

So how does it feel for Jackson to be back in New England?

“It feels like home. Feels like home," Jackson told reporters on Sunday. "Familiar faces. Just feels like home. Good to be home, I feel appreciated here. I’m excited to be back.”

This is Jackson's second stint with the Patriots, having began his career as an undrafted free agent with New England in 2018.

He won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018 and was named to the second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl in his final year with the Patriots before signing with the Chargers after the 2021 season.

However, things clearly didn't work out between him and the Chargers. And because of that, the Patriots were able to benefit.

“I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe it," Jackson said when he found out about the trade. "But I was happy and that’s the key. You want to be happy. You want to be happy with what you’re doing, and this place has my heart.”

And while it can be tough to join a new team and have to learn a new system so soon, Jackson jumped right back in.

“It’s nothing, it’s easy. It’s like a second nature. Get out there and do what I love to do and this is my defense. This is the defense that I started with and made me who I am. So coming back here is just going back and I’m back. I’m back," Jackson said. "Like I’ve said, I’ve played here before and kind of know what’s going on. I played a little bit today and I feel good.”

And while it wasn't the result he wanted to get with his new team, Jackson is focused on moving forward after a whirlwind week for the cornerback.

“It happened so fast, the trade and everything. I didn’t know it until the day before. I landed in Foxborough and got here ready to work.”
