FOXBOROUGH Mass – Jack Jones made his return to the football field on Sunday after spending the first six weeks of the season on injured reserve.
And he wasted no time getting involved.
But there was one play that had the cornerback very upset after he was called for a controversial penalty that provided the Bills with a much-needed first down.
In the third quarter, Jack Jones attempted to take down Josh Allen in the pocket, but the quarterback got the throw off just in time. While the pass was incomplete, Jones' hit sent Allen to the ground.
Allen began yelling at the officials looking for the call, which he eventually got as a late flag was thrown.
And Jones posted on social media, showing how unhappy he was with the call.
But since the Patriots did win the game, he is able to look past it.
Jones was a crucial part of the Patriots defensive scheme on Sunday, with him, J.C. Jackson, and Jonathan Jones being tasked at different times with limiting receiver Stefon Diggs. And he was able to do that, with the trio limiting Diggs to six receptions on 12 targets for 58 yards and one touchdown.
And he made his opinion clear on the defense's job in stopping him: “He wasn’t a problem for us."
There has been increased controversy over some recent calls in the National Football League, especially for roughing the passer.
But it doesn't matter any more because they secured the win.
