FRANKFURT, Germany — Every time Bill Belichick has decided to bench Mac Jones this season, he has had an excuse for why.

But on Sunday, it seemed the time for excuses was over. Yet a photo surfaced after the game, that implied differently.

Mac Jones was seen walking into the X-ray room following the game.

And even Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen questioned this when he saw Bailey Zappe take the field in place of Jones.

"I didn't know if Mac [Jones] was hurt or what," Steichen said. "I wasn't sure."

And Belichick didn't give much away when asked if the benching was injury related.

"Yeah, look, I made the decision. That's what it was," Belichick said. "We'll deal with next week next week."

However, Mac Jones cleared this all up following the game when asked.

"Yeah, I'm good," he said. "I just got a little bruise, but I'm good."

With Jones' health no longer a question, it is now wondered whether he will be the starting quarterback going forward, or if the Patriots will go in another direction.

We'll have to see what they decided after the bye week.
