FOXBOROUGH, Mass – While Bill Belichick didn't give much away on who the starting quarterback will be this weekend, Mac Jones might have said just enough.

When speaking with the media on Wednesday morning, the quarterback was asked if he would be starting Sunday. And he didn't hesitate when providing his answer.

"Hope so," Jones said. "That’s the plan, I think.“

However, reporters asked Jones to clarify if that was only his plan or the team's plan.

"We’ll see," is all he said in response.

The third-year quarterback also confirmed that he has been in contact with Belichick over this controversial situation.

“We’ve had good conversations and really what I’m focusing on is what I can control,” he said.

All of this came after Belichick declined to answer any questions regarding the starting quarterback on Tuesday, instead saying over and over again that he has told every player to be ready to go.

In the Patriots loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany, Mac Jones was benched once again and it was Bailey Zappe who took over for him.

In previous games when Zappe replaced Jones this season, Belichick made it seem that it was due to the large score deficit. However, this time was clearly different.

And while the coaching staff has been quick to reaffirm that Jones will remain the starter earlier this season, they didn't comment after the game in Germany.

During Tuesday's practice session, it was Jones and Zappe who were rotating, while Will Grier remained to the side.

While the Patriots are keeping everyone in the dark, it does seem that they are leaning one way. Don't be surprised if you see Jones take the field first on Sunday.
