The New England Patriots made a new addition to the roster on Tuesday.
The team announced that they signed linebacker Titus Leo to the 53-man roster off the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.
To make room, they placed LB Curtis Jacobs on injured reserve, and opened an additional spot by releasing LB Ochaun Mathis.
So let's meet the new Patriots linebacker.
Leo was selected by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Wagner. However, he got hurt during training camp his rookie year, and was placed on injured reserve on August 29, 2023.
After sitting out his entire rookie season, he was back for camp this year. Leo had moments where he shined, but wasn't able to make the 53-man roster. Indianapolis waived him and then re-signed him to the practice squad.
Destin Adams, A to Z Sports' Colts reporter, provided some information on what Leo can bring to the table.
"He looked noticeably stronger this training camp and had some nice moments in the preseason where you could see why so many teams had interest in him late in his draft cycle after being a dominant pass rusher at Wagner," he explained. "He's just a very raw player who never got the opportunity to show if he could develop into a pro.
