Can Miami's defense take a big step forward from last week?
There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it: the Dolphins' defense was poor last week. It was especially poor up in trying to stop the run, with the Chargers rolling up 234 yards on 40 carries. That has to get much, much better against a New England offense that will run early and often.
3 players to watch
Bradley Chubb. The Dolphins called up DE Chase Winovich and OLB Cameron Goode, which means that Jaelan Phillips (back) is most likely not going to be able to play on Sunday. That puts the onus of the ability to get to the quarterback on the other side with Chubb, who was a non-factor last week against the Chargers. He needs to step up Sunday night.
Christian Wilkins. Jalen Carter had a field day against the interior of the Pats' offensive line last week, which is also dealing with a couple of key injuries. Wilkins could be in prime position to help disrupt the Patriots running game in the middle.
Austin Jackson. He did a great job last week on Joey Bosa. Can he keep another solid pass rusher in check in Matthew Judon?
