The New England Patriots have their new top wide receiver.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal including $26 million guaranteed.

The Patriots hosted the four-time Pro Bowler on a visit last week, checking in and seeing how he was doing. While his production with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills speaks for itself, there was one thing that might have been holding teams back.

In Week 8 of the 2024 season, he suffered a season-ending ACL tear during his first year with the Houston Texans.

So, part of his visit in Foxborough was to see where he is at in his recovery. And ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that "league sources have described Diggs as ahead of schedule, already running full speed and gaining increased comfort cutting and changing direction."

It seems the Patriots would agree with that assessment.

Plus, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz added that the two sides plan to stay in contact.

"As it was described to me, this was more of a 'get to know you' and 'where you're at medically' type of meeting," Schultz wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

That did that, and now he's headed to Foxborough.

A to Z Sports' Vikings reporter Tyler Forness shined some light on what kind of player the Patriots are getting.

"Stefon Diggs wanted out of Buffalo after four years there for behind the scenes reasons. The relationship had soured and it was time to move on. Diggs was playing well with the Houston Texans before tearing his ACL in their eighth game. He's been one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League for a decade, but he isn't going to be the same player he was in Buffalo after this knee injury.

What you are getting in Diggs is an alpha personality on the outside. He is a great route runner who can attack all three levels of the field. Once he returns, Diggs will be a great asset to both Drake Maye and a wide receiver room that needs guidance. He's not going to be an All-Pro, but significantly raises the floor of a wide receiver room that needs it," Forness said.

Across his 10 years in the league, Diggs has a total of 857 receptions for 10,491 receiving yards and 70 receiving touchdowns in 144 games played.

He joins a receiver room with Mack Hollins, Kendrick Bourne, Pop Douglas, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Kayshon Boutte.

Who's ready to see what Drake Maye and Diggs can do together?
