The New England Patriots are just days away from a Super Bowl appearance, where they are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch of one of the best Super Bowls of the century.

However, fans have been on pins and needles over the health of superstar quarterback and MVP candidate Drake Maye.

In the AFC Championship victory over the Denver Broncos, Maye sustained a shoulder injury that shook him up in the second half of the game. That injury forced the star to be limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and he closed the week by missing practice on Friday with an illness. All of this forced the Patriots to officially declare him “questionable to play” in the Super Bowl.

However, fans can put those fears to rest after Drake Maye’s report on Monday evening.

Drake Maye is good to go for epic Super Bowl

At his press conference on Monday, Maye said he felt ready to go with his shoulder ahead of Monday’s practice. His shoulder felt healthy as he landed in San Jose, and it held up in practice all Monday. Maye relayed he would be getting a full week of prep like every other game.

“I feel good. I’ll be just fine,” Maye said. “I threw a good bit. I threw as much as I would at a normal practice. I felt great and looking forward to getting back out there Wednesday and Thursday for practice and Friday to get ready for a normal week of prep.”

Maye’s readiness is further backed up by Patriots’ quarterbacks coach Ashton Grant saying he has “no concerns” about Maye’s health ahead of the Super Bowl. Head coach Mike Vrabel stated last week that the Patriots don’t have any concerns about Maye’s shoulder, clarifying that Maye “was not able to practice because of the illness” and not his shoulder.

As Maye continues to get healthier and more involved in game prep, both his and New England’s confidence should continue to grow.

Maye’s play elevated the Patriots’ consistently, and it’s hard to argue his status as an MVP-caliber player given his importance to New England. They’ll need him to be 100 percent, as Seattle’s elite defense won’t give him many opportunities.
