According to ML Football, the New England Patriots are set to bring in FCS standout Quarterback Matthew McKay for a workout tomorrow.

McKay, who was a sixth-year senior in 2022, finished his collegiate career with his best statistically season, during which he threw for 21 touchdowns, only four interceptions, and accumulated 2,690 passing yards. Despite coming off a solid season, McKay went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft.

Originally a three-star recruit at NC State, McKay decided to transfer to the FCS and joined Montana State in December 2019. He is an older rookie, turning 24 years old in October, partly due to missing the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. McKay's first season as a full-time starter was in 2021, where he threw for 17 touchdowns, to three interceptions, and threw for 2,021 yards.

McKay has also been a ground threat, amassing 774 yards and scoring five touchdowns in the last two seasons. It’ll be a long shot for McKay to make the team as the Patriots' current roster already includes four QBs: Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, Trace McSorley, and the versatile QB/WR hybrid, Malik Cunningham.

McKay did participate in a minicamp workout with the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago and was never signed. Now, he is set to visit with the New England Patriots this week, where he will compete for a contract with the team.
