NFL insider hints at blockbuster trade that could set up the Patriots for plenty more Super Bowl runs in the future
The Patriots would be smart to pick up the phone on this one.
The New England Patriots are gearing up for a Super Bowl in Mike Vrabel’s first season at the helm of his former team. Despite their work to finish the present season strong, they, along with the rest of the league, have to find ways to maintain their future to continue going to more Super Bowls with Drake Maye at the helm.
To do so, they need to improve the overall talent level of the roster and continue to add blue-chip talent in the offseason, through whatever medium they can. The Patriots had an outstanding 2025 NFL Draft haul, and now need to continue that momentum.
One way they can do that is through exploring the trade market for some disgruntled veterans. One insider hinted at Super Bowl media week that the perfect one is available, and that he wants to play for Mike Vrabel.
Patriots should make a move for Maxx Crosby
Dianna Russini hinted today that Las Vegas Raiders superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby would “love” to play for Mike Vrabel. This comes on the heels of Crosby being not so secretly disgruntled with the constant rebuild that the Raiders seem to be stuck in.
“Outside of these players in free agency, the thing that I’m going to be watching are these players that want to be traded. That’s what I want to see. Maxx Crosby doesn’t seem too happy in Las Vegas, is he gonna ask for one [a trade] officially? I can tell you, I know he wants to play for Mike Vrabel.”
The Raiders are once again entering a new era, armed with the number-one pick and a new head coach in former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. While losing such a talent like Crosby would no doubt hurt them, they could use additional draft capital and cap space to help rebuild the roster.
For the Patriots, Crosby would be the missing piece the defense needs. While they’ve gotten strong play from Harold Landry and K’Lavon Chaisson this season, they are missing a true blue-chip elite pass rusher. Adding a player like Crosby, especially in a draft where they might not be in position to add a player close to his caliber, would be a smart addition to take the defense to the next level.
