NFL Power Rankings Week 8:
1. Philadelphia Eagles (6-1) 📈 2
The Philadelphia Eagles are the third team to capture the top spot in our power rankings. And after a dominant 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins and a big trade, they earned it. The Eagles held the electric Dolphins offense to only 10 points on the day, and for the first time this year, we saw the dominant Eagles from last season. The Eagles capped off the week by acquiring Tennessee Titans' safety Kevin Kyard to their already stacked defense.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (6-1) 📉 1
The Kansas City Chiefs continued their impressive 2023 season with a 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The stars for the Chiefs on the day were none other than Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Mahomes threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns. And Kelce celebrated "National TE Day" with 179 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs are already pulling way ahead in the AFC West and look to have their eyes set on the top seed in the AFC, standing at 6-1 after the first seven weeks of the season.
3. Baltimore Ravens (5-2) 📈 6
The Baltimore Ravens had a statement win, to say the least, in Week 7. As they stomped the Detroit Lions 38-6. This was the best we've seen the Ravens look all season on both sides of the ball. The Ravens made the Lions offense look below average (which it is certainly not), and Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense were firing on all cylinders. Jackson threw for 357 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown on the day as well. After this performance, it feels time to say that Jackson is in the discussion for this year's MVP award.
4. San Francisco 49ers (5-2) 📉 2
The San Francisco 49ers offense just hasn't looked the same since their dominating Week 5 win over the Dallas Cowboys. They've now lost two straight and have scored their season-low in points (17) in both of those losses. It starts with QB Brock Purdy, who has four turnovers over the last two weeks. The 49ers are too talented to be playing this poorly. They have another tough task on deck as they host the recently rejuvenated Bengals this week, and will attempt to prevent themselves from dropping three straight.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2) 📈 1
The Jacksonville Jaguars came out hot in Week 7 on Thursday Night Football as they led 24-9 over the New Orleans Saints after the first three quarters. The fourth quarter would make the game look closer, but they got the job done to improve to 5-2 on the season and now find themselves in the driver's seat for the AFC South crown. They will put their four-game winning streak to the test this week as they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers, as they will attempt to head into their Week 9 bye with an impressive 6-2 record.
6. Dallas Cowboys (4-2) 📈 2
7. Miami Dolphins (5-2) 📉 3
8. Detroit Lions (5-2) 📉 2
9. Buffalo Bills (4-3) 📉 2
I'm not sure there is a team with such an influx of highs and lows through the first seven weeks than the Buffalo Bills. They've struggled to create any sign of consistency and now find themselves at 4-3. They've lost two of their last three, with their only win coming over the New York Giants, where it took a final second goal line stand to come away victorious. This past week's loss likely stings more than any other as they fell to their division rival, the New England Patriots, 29-25. They looked outmanned the entire game, they found themselves down 13-3 at the half, and when they had the chance to crawl out with the win, allowed a final drive touchdown to the struggling Mac Jones led Patriots offense. A dreaded player-only meeting was called by a few team leaders as they attempt to get back on track this week at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
10. Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) ↔️
11. Cleveland Browns (4-2) ↔️
12. Seattle Seahawks (4-2) 📈 2
13. Los Angeles Chargers (2-4) 📉 1
14. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) 📈 6
15. Minnesota Vikings (3-4) 📈 9
The Minnesota Vikings season looked to be on life support after starting 1-4, but have now won two straight. Including their huge Week 7 22-17 win over the 49ers. QB Kirk Cousins played like it was 1:00 on a Sunday, on Monday Night Football, and rookie WR Jordan Addison had the best game of his young career, exploding for 124 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings will look to continue their recent success as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers this week.
16. Los Angeles Rams (3-4) 📉 3
17. New York Jets (3-3) 📉 2
18. Houston Texans (3-3) 📉 2
19. Indianapolis Colts (3-4) ↔️
The Indianapolis Colts suffered a heartbreaking last-minute loss to the Cleveland Browns this week 39-38, after a couple of late controversial calls. The have a lot of positives to take away from this loss though. Their offense had arguably their best game of the season against a defense many believe to be the best in the NFL. Coming into Week 7 the Browns had only allowed three offensive touchdowns total, and the Colts ended the day with five. The iffy late calls likely wouldn't have even mattered if QB Gardner Minshew was able to take care of the ball after having three turnovers. That gives him seven turnovers over the last two weeks.
20. Atlanta Falcons (4-3) 📈 3
21. New Orleans Saints (3-4) 📉 3
22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3) 📉 5
23. Washington Commanders (3-4) 📉 2
24. New York Giants (2-5) 📈 4
How about those New York football Giants? In back-to-back weeks they have looked hungry and prepared for their matchups. After suffering a last-second loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, they got a needed win over their division rivals the Washington Commanders. Without their starting QB, Brian Dabboll has found a way to get his offense going as we near the mid-way point in the season. The Giants still have a lot to do if they want to rescue their season, but these past two weeks have been just what the doctor ordered.
25. Green Bay Packers (2-4) 📉 3
26. New England Patriots (2-5) 📈 5
27. Tennesee Titans (2-4) 📉 1
The Tennesee Titans are 2-4 and coming off their bye week, but still found themselves in the headlines. After they traded star safety Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles. It is appearing that QB Ryan Tannehill could miss extended time, and with their 2023 season looking bleak, it leads one to wonder if the Titans will be sellers ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.
28. Chicago Bears (2-5) 📈 1
29. Denver Broncos (2-5) 📈 1
30. Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) 📉 5
The Las Vegas Raiders seem to have no identity at the moment. They have a decent 3-4 record but find new ways to look unprepared each week. This past week being a season-low for the team after suffering a dominating 30-12 loss to the at-the-time 1-5 Chicago Bears. The Bears were without starting QB Justin Fields in this one and lost to undrafted rookie QB
31. Arizona Cardinals (1-6) 📉 4
32. Carolina Panthers (0-6) ↔️
