In the New England Patriots' loss to the Houston Texans, there was one play that had fans very upset.
And it occurred at the beginning of the third quarter, when the Patriots received the ball.
On the first offensive play of the second half, Drake Maye handed the ball off to Antonio Gibson, but the running back only managed to get one yard on the play.
However, this was the reason.
It was not called by the referees despite it being such an obvious facemask penalty.
And on the next play, Drake Maye was strip-sacked, with the ball being recovered by Houston. It killed all the momentum the Patriots had coming out of the half.
However, the NFL righted this wrong on Saturday.
Mario Edwards was fined a total of $9,245 for unnecessary roughness (facemask).
While this isn't to blame for all of the Patriots' run game struggles last Sunday, this was a moment in the game that could have impacted the outcome.
Gibson finished the game with 13 carries for 19 rushing yards. Drake Maye was the team's top rusher with five carries for 38 yards.
Mario Edwards wasn't the only Houston Texans player fined
In the third quarter, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud connected with Stefon Diggs in the end zone.
It was Christian Gonzalez who was tasked with covering Diggs throughout most of the game. So when the receiver got into the end zone, he took a dig at the star cornerback.
Diggs celebrated by spinning the ball in front of Gonzalez while saying something to him.
In the game, he was called for a taunting penalty, but the NFL decided to take further action.
Diggs was fined $11,255 for this move in Week 6.
