FOXBORO, Mass. — The Jack Jones incident at practice on Thursday still remains somewhat of a mystery.
Multiple players have been asked about the situation, including Jones himself, but the main consensus is that "it's just football."
And on Monday, Bill Belichick became the latest to comment on what occurred.
“Work through practice day by day. I think Mike (Pellegrino) talked about it. I don’t have anything to add," Belichick said.
The incident began after Jones broke up a pass along the sideline intended for Kendrick Bourne and got heated following the play. Soon after he walked to the stairs and returned to practice after it appeared that he had calmed down.
Along with Peppers, Jalen Mills, and Matt Groh also had conversations with Jones, but he never returned to team drills.
Following Friday night's in-stadium practice, Jones gave spoke with the media for the first time since his arrest and shined some light on the incident.
“Yesterday at practice? Just football,” Jones said on Friday. “Today is today. It’s in the past. It’s nothing bad. We good today though.”
Controversy has followed Jones throughout the offseason, with him being arrested at Boston Logan Airport on June 16 for trying to bring two loaded firearms on the plane. Jones was arranged on June 30, with his attorney Rosemary Scapicchio stating that "he had no intention of bringing any guns into Logan Airport that day."
He is being charged with two counts of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
While it was uncertain if he would be at training camp, Bill Belichick confirmed that he would be in attendance and has been there every day.
Jones is due back in court on August 18, which is just a day before New England's final preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
