Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have made many memories together.

However, when asked, Belichick had no trouble choosing his favorite.

“Well, there’s six of them that come to mind,” Belichick said on WEEI in reference to the six Super Bowl championships the two won together in New England.

Brady will be returning to Gillette Stadium on Sunday for the Patriots season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, with a ceremony to honor the former quarterback set to take place during halftime.

And while Belichick will be in the locker room during this time, he is happy that the Patriots are doing something for Brady.

“I can’t say enough about Tom and what he’s meant to his organization, what he’s meant to me personally," Belichick said on WEEI. "For so many years he just set a standard of daily performance, which turned into yearly performance, which turned into not only a Hall of Fame career, but probably the best career of all time in the National Football League, and he did it on a day-to-day basis."

Brady's time with the Patriots can only be described as historic. The quarterback was selected in the sixth-round of the 2000 NFL Draft and 23 seasons later, he finished his career with seven Super Bowl championships. Brady is now regarded as the greatest of all time (GOAT).

"He just epitomized everything you would want in a player – his work ethic, his ability to handle and process a lot of things on and off the field. His critical playmaking ability, instinctiveness and anticipation and decision making at the most critical times in the biggest games in the team’s history not to mention the seasons," Belichick said on WEEI. "I’d say that’s really the biggest thing about Tom that’s so impressive is what you got from him every day was that same level of commitment, work ethic, performance, attention to detail and inquisitiveness and coachability. Tom’s always looking to get better, improve and find ways to be a little bit better than he was no matter how good he was. That’s really a great, great attitude to have with a player of his person and ability and performance and production.”

While the two hold a lot of respect for one another, Belichick's comments on Monday went much more in-depth than he usually does. And that was very telling, as neither would be where they are today without the other.

"It was a tremendous experience to be able to coach him and for us to share the things that we shared together in our player, coach relationship," Belichick said to media on Monday morning. "I mean certainly recognizing him for all of his great achievements here is more than appropriate, and I look forward to seeing him and glad that he’s getting a lot of recognition and appreciation for that because he certainly deserves it.”
